Foretold Messiah 5 Old Testament pointing to John the Baptist and to Immanuel, Jeshua the Christ

The Old Testament (OT), as we have seen in the previous chapters, points ahead to the person God was going to send for bringing an end to the curse of death. From the Hebrew Scriptures we also come to know that this special messenger of God, a prophet, would come to call people to return from their bad way of living and to return to the Only One True God, Who is One.

Hundreds of years before the birth of the Nazarene man Jeshua (Jesus Christ), numerous prophecies concerning him had been given and were preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures (commonly called the Old Testament). Christ’s fulfilment of Old Testament prophecy is often noted by New Testament writers as a demonstration of God’s faithfulness to his promises of salvation and as confirmation of the divine authority of Jesus Christ.

Throughout the ages, we can see that some people do not seem to desire to advance in the knowledge of God. But Jehovah God wants to give everybody the opportunity to get to know Him. For that matter, He sent out many prophets to tell about Him and to warn about future events. It were those Hebrew prophets, chosen ones from God, who also told about some Savour to come. Those leaders for the Chosen people of Israel spoke about signs to come, first so that people would come to know that a saviour would be at hand and secondly that people would come to see that the present sinful world would come to an end, by a great battle destroying the averse world and having the returned Messiah taking his throne in the Kingdom of God.

People got warned they had to look out for the man being called Immanuel.

14 For this, Jehovah he will give to you a sign: Behold, the virgin conceiving, and she will bare a son, and call his name Immanuel.

We are told a child to be born and to grow up, without being contaminated by wrongdoing.

And thou, house of bread, of Ephratah, for being small among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall come forth to me he being ruler in Israel; and his goings forth from of old from the days of eternity.
2 For this he will give them up even till the time she bearing will bring forth: and the remainder of his brethren shall turn back to the sons of Israel.
3 And he stood and fed in the strength of Jehovah, in the majesty of the name of Jehovah his God; and they shall dwell: for now shall he be magnified to the ends of the earth.

Smith, J. E. (Vert.). (1876). The Holy Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments; Translated Literally from the Original Tongues (Mi 5:1–3). Hartford, CT: American Publishing Company.

15 Curdled milk and honey he shall eat, for his knowing to reject in evil, and to choose in good.
16 For before the boy shall know to reject in evil and to choose in good the land which thou abhorrest shall be forsaken from the face of its two kings.

People could come to recognise him who is presented as a gift to mankind, by putting all ancient prophecy stories together, knowing him also to come from the Tribe of David.

5 For a child was born to us, a son was given to us, and the dominion shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, everlasting Father, Captain of Peace.
6 To the increase of his dominion and to peace no end, upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom to prepare it and to support it in judgment and in justice from now and even to forever: the zeal of Jehovah of armies will do this.
7 Jehovah sent a word into Jacob, and it fell upon Israel.

Smith, J. E. (Vert.). (1876). The Holy Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments; Translated Literally from the Original Tongues (Js 9:5–7). Hartford, CT: American Publishing Company.

The Old Testament (OT) passages (Mal. 3:1 and Isa. 40:3) are furnished to show that John the Baptist and Jesus are to be understood in the context of the prophecies regarded by ancient Jews and Christians as Holy (or set-apart) Scriptures and divine revelation of God’s purposes. That is, in the writer’s view, neither Jesus nor John appeared “out of the blue” but, rather, as a fulfilment of God’s plan of redemption. This attitude, that the OT is a record of God’s work and plan and that Jesus must be interpreted as fulfilment of the work and word of God in the OT, is reflected throughout the New Testament (NT) writings and received continuing expression as the church used the OT writings as Scripture in its subsequent history. This view is, of course, formally reflected in the inclusion of the OT as part of the Christian Bible – a decision still accepted by all the major branches of Christianity today.

Behold me sending my messenger, and he looked upon the way before my face: and suddenly Jehovah whom ye seek shall come to his temple, and the messenger of the covenant whom ye delight in: behold him coming, said Jehovah of armies.

3 The voice of him calling in the desert, Prepare ye the way of Jehovah, make straight in the sterile region a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the acclivity was for evenness, and the mountain ranges for a valley:

Smith, J. E. (Vert.). (1876). The Holy Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments; Translated Literally from the Original Tongues (Js 40:3–4). Hartford, CT: American Publishing Company.

At the same time, there was spoken about another man who would prepare the way for the chosen one from God who would show the people the right path to the Kingdom of God. The voice of one calling out in the wilderness was pointing to John the Baptist. He announced that soon there would come someone more important than him, to prepare the way to the Elohim. That man of flesh and blood would take away the stumbling block for mankind and liberate them of the chains of death.

14 And he shall say, Lift ye up, lift ye up; clear the way, take up the stumbling block out of the way of my people.

Smith, J. E. (Vert.). (1876). The Holy Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments; Translated Literally from the Original Tongues (Js 57:14). Hartford, CT: American Publishing Company.

The apostle Matthew when he wrote his gospel had become totally convinced that John the Baptist and the Nazarene rabbi Jeshua were the ones spoken from old.

In these days John the Baptist is present, proclaiming in the desert of Judea;
2 And saying, Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.
3 For this is he spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, A voice of him crying in the desert, Prepare the way of the Lord; make his paths straight.

Smith, J. E. (Vert.). (1876). The Holy Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments; Translated Literally from the Original Tongues (Mt 3:1–3). Hartford, CT: American Publishing Company.

The other disciples, like Mark, Luke and  John were also convinced that in the scrolls was spoken about those who they knew and met in their lifetime.

2 As it has been written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.
3 A voice of him crying in the desert, Prepare ye the way of the Lord; make his beaten paths straight.

2 Upon Annas and Caiaphas being chief priests, the word of God was upon John, son of Zacharias in the desert.
3 And he came into all the country round about Jordan, proclaiming the immersion of repentance for remission of sins;
4 As it has been written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, A voice of him crying in the desert, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his footpaths straight.
5 Every ravine shall be filled up, and every mount and hill shall be lowered; and the crooked shall be into straightness, and the rough into smooth ways.
6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

Smith, J. E. (Vert.). (1876). The Holy Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments; Translated Literally from the Original Tongues (Lc 3:2–6). Hartford, CT: American Publishing Company.

6 A man was sent from God, the name to him John.
7 This came for testimony, that he might testify concerning the Light, that all might believe through him.
8 He was not that Light, but that he might testify for the Light.

Smith, J. E. (Vert.). (1876). The Holy Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments; Translated Literally from the Original Tongues (Joh 1:6–8). Hartford, CT: American Publishing Company.

14 And the Word was flesh, and dwelt with us, (and we beheld his glory, as the glory of the only born of the father,) full of grace and truth.
15 John testifies for him, and he cried, saying, This was he of whom I said, He coming after me was before me: for he was before me.
16 And of his completion we all received, and grace for grace.
17 For the law was given by Moses; grace and truth were by Jesus Christ.

Smith, J. E. (Vert.). (1876). The Holy Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments; Translated Literally from the Original Tongues (Joh 1:14–17). Hartford, CT: American Publishing Company.

Many people knew that it very well could be in their time that the Messiah would come and were curious if perhaps John was the man spoken of. Under inspiration, John applied Isaiah’s words about the voice in the wilderness to himself.

19 And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem that they might ask him, Who art thou?
20 And he acknowledged, and denied not; and he acknowledged, That I am not the Christ.
21 And they asked, What then? Art thou Elias? And he says, I am not. Art thou a prophet? And he answered, No.
22 Then said they to him, Who art thou? that we might give answer to them having sent us. What sayest thou for thyself?
23 He said, I the voice of him crying in the desert, Make ye straight the way of the Lord, as said Esaias the prophet.
24 And they having been sent were of the Pharisees.
25 And they asked him, and said to him, Why immersest thou then, if thou art not Christ, neither Elias, neither a prophet?
26 John answered them saying, I immerse in water: but he stands the midst of you, whom ye know not;
27 This is he coming after me, who was before me, of whom I am not worthy that I might loose the strings of his shoes.
28 These things were in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was immersing.

Several events would take place before the apostles came to see more and more how what happened with their master was in agreement with what was told in the ancient prophecies. For many, the entrance in Jerusalem should have been a final clear sign.

9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; make a loud noise, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy king shall come to thee: just, and saying; he is humble and riding upon an ass, and upon an ass’s colt the son of asses.

Many had been looking for the one shoot who would come out from the stump (Choter) of Jesse, and the branch (mig·Ge·za / Netzar) which will bear fruit out of his roots, [(Jer 23:5; 33:15; Zech 3:8; 6:12, Ezra 3:8) which give as Moshiach’s Namesake Yahushua/Yehoshua/Yeshua or Jeshua; compare Mt.2:23] shall bear fruit of his roots:.

5 Behold the days coming, says Jehovah, and I raised up to David a just sprout, and a king reigned and prospered, and he did judgment and justice in the earth.
6 In his days shall Judah be saved, and Israel shall dwell with confidence: and this his name which he shall be called: Jehovah Our Justice.

Smith, J. E. (Vert.). (1876). The Holy Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments; Translated Literally from the Original Tongues (Jr 23:5–6). Hartford, CT: American Publishing Company.

And a rod shall come forth from the stock of Jesse, and a sprout shall blossom from his roots:
2 And the spirit of Jehovah resting upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and strength, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of Jehovah:
3 His sweet odor in the fear of Jehovah: and not according to the seeing of his eyes shall he judge, and not according to the hearing of his ears shall he decide.
4 And he judged the powerless with justice, and he decided in straightness for the humble of the earth: and he struck the earth with the rod of his mouth, and by the spirit of his lips he will slay the unjust.
5 And justice was the girding of his loins, and truth the girding of his loins.

14 Behold, the days coming, says Jehovah, and I raised up the good word which I spake to the house of Israel and for the house of Judah.
15 In those days and in that time I will cause the sprout of justice to spring up to David; and he did judgment and justice in the land.
16 In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell with confidence; and this is what shall be called to her: Jehovah our Justice.
17 For thus said Jehovah, I will not cut off to David a man sitting upon the throne of the house of Israel;
18 And to the priests, the Levites, I will not cut off a man from my face bringing up burnt-offerings, and burning the gift, and doing sacrifice all the days.
19 And the word of Jehovah will be to Jeremiah, saying,
20 Thus said Jehovah, ….

And thou, house of bread, of Ephratah, for being small among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall come forth to me he being ruler in Israel; and his goings forth from of old from the days of eternity.

8 Hear now, O Joshua the great priest, thou and thy friends sitting before thee, for they are men of wonder: for behold me bringing my servant the Sprout.

12 And say to him, saying, Thus said Jehovah of armies, saying, Behold the man, The Sprout his name; and he shall spring forth from his place and build the temple of Jehovah.
13 And he shall build the temple of Jehovah; and he shall lift up the majesty, and he sat and ruled upon his throne: and he was priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them two.

For those living at the time after the death of Christ, other writings should pull the attention and should make it clear that this man who was betrayed, nailed at the stake and after him being laid in a grave having risen, is that one spoken of in the OT.

23 In the beginning of thy supplications the word came forth, and I came to announce; for thou art desires: and understand thou in the word, and consider in the sight.
24 Seventy seventy were divided upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to close the transgression, and to seal up sins, and to expiate iniquity, and to bring in eternal justice, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the holy of holies.
25 And thou shalt know and understand, from the going forth of the word to turn back and to build Jerusalem even to Messiah the leader, seventy weeks, and sixty and two weeks: and the street shall turn back and be built, and the ditch, in the trouble of the times.
26 And after sixty and two weeks, Messiah shall be cut off, and not for him: and the people of the leader coming shall destroy the city and the holy place; and its end with an overflowing, and even to the end of the war desolations were determined.
27 And he made strong the covenant to many one week: and half the week he shall cause the sacrifice and gift to cease, and upon the wing of abominations laying waste, even to the completion, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolation.

10 The rod shall not depart from Judah, and a leader from between his feet, till that Shiloh shall come: and to him the obedience of the nations.
11 Binding his colt to the vine, and to the purple vine the son of the she-ass; he washed in wine his garment, and his clothing in the blood of grapes.
12 The eyes flashing from wine, the teeth white from milk.

10 And I will take my rod Beauty, and I will cut it off, to break my covenant which I cut out with all the peoples.
11 And it shall be broken in that day: and the poor of the flock watching me knew that it was the word of Jehovah.
12 And saying to them, If good in your eyes, give ye my hire; and if not, desist. And they will weigh my hire, thirty of silver.
13 And Jehovah will say to me, Cast it to the potter: a splendor of price which I was prized of them. And I shall take the thirty of silver and cast it in the house of Jehovah, to the potter.
14 And I shall cut off my second rod, Cords, to break the brotherhood between Judah and between Israel.
15 And Jehovah will say to me, Yet take to thee the vessels of a foolish shepherd.
16 For behold, I raise up a shepherd in the land, he shall not review those being concealed; the youth he shall not seek, and he shall not heal the broken, and he shall not nourish the standing firmly: and he shall eat the flesh of the fatling, and he shall break their hoofs.
17 Wo! to the empty shepherd forsaking the sheep; the sword upon his arm, and upon his right eye: and his arm being dried up, shall be dried up, and his right eye being dim, shall be dim.

From birth to death, Jesus fulfilled numerous prophecies recorded in the Hebrew Scriptures.

The spirit of the Lord Jehovah is upon me; because Jehovah anointed me to announce good news to the afflicted, he sent me to bind up to the broken of heart, to call freedom to the captives, and the opening of the prison to the bound.
2 To call the year of acceptance to Jehovah, and the day of vengeance to our God; to comfort all those mourning;

Smith, J. E. (Vert.). (1876). The Holy Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments; Translated Literally from the Original Tongues (Js 61:1–2). Hartford, CT: American Publishing Company.

17 And the book of Esaias the prophet was given to him. And having unfolded the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for which he anointed me to announce good news to the poor; he has sent me to heal the broken in heart, to proclaim a remission to the captives, and a recovery of sight to the blind, to send away with remission the bruised,
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.
20 And having folded the book and given back to the servant, he sat down. And the eyes of all in the assembly were looking attentively upon him.
21 And he began to say to them, That this day has this writing been filled up in your ears.
22 And all bore him testimony and wondered at the words of grace going out of his mouth: and said, Is not this the son of Joseph?
23 And he said to them, Directly will ye say to me this proverb, Physician, cure thyself: what things we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.
24 And he said, Truly I say to you, That not any prophet is accepted in his country.

13 And having left Nazareth behind, having come, he dwelt in Capernaum, near the sea, in the boundaries of Zabulon and Nephthalim:
14 That it might be completed having been spoken through Esaias the prophet, saying,
15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, the way of the sea beyond Jordan, Galilee of the nations:
16 The people sitting in darkness saw a great light; and to them sitting in the room and shadow of death, light has sprung up to them.
17 From then Jesus began to proclaim, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.

Looking at the New Testament we shall come to see there are many more phrases which refer to what prophets said in the ancient days and words of Jesus which have to remind us about what is said in the OT for what is going to happen in the future, when the sings of the last days would be at hand. (When presenting the writings from Jesus’ disciples we shall discuss such referrals.)

Even today we see that lots of people still reject this given man of God, who has become the cornerstone of a (re)new(ed) people of God.

22 The stone the builders refused will be for the head of the corner.

Smith, J. E. (Vert.). (1876). The Holy Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments; Translated Literally from the Original Tongues (Ps 118:22). Hartford, CT: American Publishing Company.

10 Also the man of my peace whom I trusted in him, eating my bread, magnified the heel against me.

Smith, J. E. (Vert.). (1876). The Holy Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments; Translated Literally from the Original Tongues (Ps 41:10). Hartford, CT: American Publishing Company.

18 I say not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the writing might be completed, He chewing bread with me lifted up his heel against me.

42 Jesus says to them, Have ye never read in the writings, The stone which the builders disapproved of, this was for the head of the corner? This was from the Lord, and it was wonderful in your eyes.

10 And have ye not read this writing; The stone which the builders disapproved of, this was for the head of the corner:
11 This was of the Lord, and is wonderful in our eyes?

17 And having looked upon them, he said, What then is this written, The stone which the builders disapproved of, this has been for the head of the corner?

Like in old times, today as in the time of Jesus, many won’t see nor hear as is written in the OT.

9 And he will say, Go, and say to this people, Hearing, hear ye, and ye shall not understand; and seeing, see ye, and ye shall not know.
10 Make the heart of this people fat and their ears heavy, and blind their eyes, lest they shall see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and their heart shall understand and turn back and be healed to them.

Smith, J. E. (Vert.). (1876). The Holy Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments; Translated Literally from the Original Tongues (Js 6:9–10). Hartford, CT: American Publishing Company.

13 For this I speak to them in parables: for seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
14 And the prophecy of Esaias is filled up in them, saying, In hearing shall ye hear, and not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive.
15 For the heart of this people has been thickened, and with their ears have they heard heavily, and their eyes have they closed; lest perhaps they should see with the eyes, and hear with the ears, and understand with the heart, and turn back, and I should heal them.

Smith, J. E. (Vert.). (1876). The Holy Bible: Containing the Old and New Testaments; Translated Literally from the Original Tongues (Mt 13:13–15). Hartford, CT: American Publishing Company.

The early Christians not only saw Jesus prefigured in certain OT prophecies of a coming redemption, but in addition, they regarded Jesus as the culmination of all God had done in the OT. In this sense, virtually everything in the OT seemed to have anticipated and pre–figured Jesus and thus gained its “fulfilment” in him.

What Jesus said and did, fulfiled many of the Hebrew Scripture prophecies. When we see how all those prophesies became fulfiled, we should understand that behind all those words written in those scrolls was a Particular Hand, mightier than any human being. As such we should be convinced that the “Old Testament,” had been given to the nation of Israel by God through the inspiration of his servants, and that his greatest servant is that Immanuel, God with us, Jeshua the promised Messiah (Jesus Christ).

The fulfilment of these above-mentioned prophecies and other prophecies proves that Jesus was the Saviour sent by God. In the Bible, the Old and New Testament, we have “all the counsel” or “the whole purpose (will) of God” for everyone to read. (Acts 20:27)

27 For I concealed not to announce to you all the counsel of God.

The seed of Eve

In the previous postings we have seen that immediately after Adam and Eve sinned, the Divine Creator Jehovah determined that there would be offered a solution for mankind by a symbolic mannin or woman who was to bring forth a seed, or son.

God having His Book of Life and death had placed the name of that Send one in it, and as such this saviour was already there in the mind of God before Abraham was born. Jehovah did not predetermine from the beginning that Adam and Eve would sin and that the ransom sacrifice provided by means of Jesus Christ would be needed. From the beginning God allowed man to have a free choice and to use it according to their wants.

There was no “throwing down of seed,” before Adam and Eve sinned. Following the rebellion but before the conception of offspring by Adam and Eve, Jehovah foreordained the appearance of the “seed.”

The act of adversary had to come to an end. The 1st man had made the wrong choice and let himself be carried away with bad thoughts. Both were mislead by thoughts which went on in their mind. It was an act of adversary which is called the devil or satan in the Bible.

When Adam and Eve went in against God’s Wishes, they themselves became adversaries of Allah/God (satan).  When Eve chose to eat from the forbidden fruit she committed an act of insubmission, going against the Will of God. By doing that she did wrong and sinned against a holy God; going against His righteous laws. Following her bad thoughts she committed sins against God His love, against His name and cause. Therefore God took action and delivered a judgement over them. When He did that, as a loving Father would rebuke His children He also spoke a prophecy that gave hope to their offspring, saying to the serpent:

“I shall put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed. He will bruise you in the head and you will bruise him in the heel.” (Genesis 3:15)

From the beginning, the identity of the promised “seed” was a sacred secret or a mystery of God. About those mysteries God declared they would become clear for the lovers of God in due time, not at the time of man but at the time of God.

This prophetic statement revealed that there would be a seed, which would not have to be literal children, or offspring, though later he declared also by His Word seed would come from the tribe of King David. This meant that this promised seed, God His speaking, would only become a reality “after” King David, as an offspring of this great man of God. That also means that the promised seed was not yet in the heaven with God, though the thought of it was already there with Him … in God’s mind.

The origin of the seed and the being of the seed originated by God. Like everything came into existence from nothing, by the Speaking of God, it also was the Word of God that gave existence to the seed. By God’s Power, the Spirit of God, a woman got pregnant with the send one from God. And this only happened many many years, even centuries, after the first sin of man, long after Adam was created and Cain and Abraham were born.

All who came after Adam and Eve in a way were from the devil (satan) because they all came forth from a man and a woman who were under the spell of treason to God. As such all born on this earth came under the same spell or from the same “father”.

John 8:44 NHEBJE  You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and its father.

1 John 3:10-12 NHEBJE  In this the children of God are revealed, and the children of the devil. Whoever does not do righteousness is not of God, neither is he who does not love his brother.  (11)  For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another;  (12)  unlike Cain, who was of the evil one, and killed his brother. Why did he kill him? Because his works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.

Many would not like to hear it, but everyone who does not carry on righteousness does not originate with God, whilst the others do. And the one who proved never to go against the Will of God is the one who most of all can claim to be son of God. More than that, this special envoyé was placed in a particular way in the womb of a devout Essene young lady. She bore the pains of insult and of birth as well having to see how her son was being slaughtered. When her son was of age and went public, it was God Himself Who declared that man standing in the river Jordan to be His only begotten beloved son.

Luke 3:21-23 NHEBJE  Now it happened, when all the people were baptized, Jesus also had been baptized, and was praying. The sky was opened,  (22)  and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form as a dove on him; and a voice came out of the sky, saying “You are my beloved Son. In you I am well pleased.”  (23)  Jesus himself, when he began to teach, was about thirty years old, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the son of Eli,

From the 1° Adam and Eve, the first parents, came forth all people. From the 2° Adam were to come forth those who would choose to follow Jesus and to love God. Like the 1° Adam was part of a creation now the 2° Adam was the beginning of a new creation. Both those creations came into existence by the Speaking of God. God‘s Voice sounding and bringing into being. From the beginning this Voice or God’s Word was with God. And from the beginning of mankind God’s Word, His promise for a solution, was with God also. God His Word was to come in fulfilment much later, bringing a very important person (a god) to man, by whom no new creation could come into being and everything would have stayed the same as after the fall of man. But now, that promised seed brought a new world for mankind.

John 1:1-3 NHEBJE  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  (2)  The same was in the beginning with God.  (3)  All things were made through him. Without him was not anything made that has been made.

That important man (a god), the seed of the woman but also seed of King David, was a deliverer who would destroy the one really represented by the serpent, namely, the great serpent and enemy of God, “Satan” the “Devil”.

Revelation 12:9 NHEBJE  The great serpent was thrown down, the old serpent, he who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

From the early times many people would be deceived. From the revelation of St. John we can figure out that the devil and satan would have a “seed.” It would require time for the two seeds to be brought forth and for enmity to develop between them. This happened not before the fall of man, but long after. Both seeds came into existence even after Adam and Eve their act of disobedience. When the brought forth children, soon came a time that we could see that the seed of evil was again planted and a brother killed his own brother.

Jehovah also foresaw the result of the enmity between his woman and “Satan” and between their opposing seeds. Although Jehovah would allow the seed of God’s woman to suffer a bruising in the heel, in God’s due time, the seed would bruise the serpent, or satan the devil, in the head. In the meantime, Jehovah’s purpose unfailingly advanced through the chosen genealogical line down to Jeshua the Kristos or Jesus Christ.

Jeshua or Jesus, like he is most know in Anglophile countries, was of the natural seed of Abraham, through his mother Mary (Miriam); he was of the tribe of Judah; and both naturally through Mary and legally through his adoptive father Joseph, he was of the line of David.

Some may say

“It was not until Jesus was begotten by the spirit, thus becoming a spiritual son of God, that he became the ‘seed of the woman’ and the seed that was to bless all nations.

This occurred at the time of his baptism by John in the Jordan River, 29 C.E. Jesus was then about 30 years of age. The holy spirit, coming upon Jesus, manifested itself to John in the form of a dove, and God himself acknowledged Jesus as his Son at that time.

Matthew 3:13-17 NHEBJE  Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him.  (14)  But John would have hindered him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?”  (15)  But Jesus, answering, said to him, “Allow it now, for this is the fitting way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed him.  (16)  And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up directly from the water: and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming on him.  (17)  And behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

John 3:3 NHEBJE  Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I tell you, unless one is born anew, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

With that rabbi who came to declare his heavenly Father, a new generation could start. A new seed be fertile. By the 1° Adam death had entered the world, now by the 2° Adam life could once again enter the world. Consequently, God’s promise,

“I shall surely multiply your seed like the stars of the heavens and like the grains of sand that are on the seashore,”

has a spiritual fulfilment and means that others, who “belong to Christ,” are added as part of Abraham’s seed and shall also be able to enter the Kingdom of God to enjoy a non-ending life.

Genesis 22:17 NHEBJE  that I will bless you greatly, and I will multiply your seed greatly like the stars of the heavens, and like the sand which is on the seashore. Your seed will possess the gate of his enemies.

Mark 9:41 NHEBJE  For whoever will give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because you belong to the Messiah, truly I tell you, he will in no way lose his reward.

1 Corinthians 15:22-24 NHEBJE  (22)  For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.  (23)  But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then those who are Christ’s, at his coming.  (24)  Then the end comes, when he will deliver up the Kingdom to God, even the Father; when he will have abolished all rule and all authority and power.

Authority was given by the heavenly Father to Jesus, who was to be called King of the Jews. He was not like and brought animosity at the time of the Romans in Jerusalem. The ill feeling against him and his followers continued after his death. We can see that in this way the great serpent satan the devil produced “seed” that has manifested the bitterest enmity toward those who have served God with faith like Abraham, as the Bible record abundantly testifies. Continueously adversaries of God or satans tried to block or hinder the development of the woman’s seed. Jesus also had already warned his listeners about what man can produce or which seed man can saw.

Matthew 13:24-30 NHEBJE  (24)  He set another parable before them, saying, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field,  (25)  but while people slept, his enemy came and sowed tares also among the wheat, and went away.  (26)  But when the blade sprang up and brought forth fruit, then the tares appeared also.  (27)  So the servants of the householder came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? Where did these tares come from?’  (28)  “And he said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and gather them up?’  (29)  “But he said, ‘No, lest perhaps while you gather up the tares, you root up the wheat with them.  (30)  Let both grow together until the harvest, and in the harvest time I will tell the reapers, “First, gather up the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn.”‘”

We all shall have to bring forth seed, people who sincerely love God and want to step in the footsteps of master Jeshua. The real followers of rabbi Jeshua shall try to be stronger than the temptations those adversaries of God bring. They shall try to proof they are worthy the sacrifice that man brought and by whom blessings have come all over them who have faith in him and who love his heavenly Father the Only One True God.

At the times of the apostles it was not easy. The enmity reached its height, however, in the persecution of the spiritual seed, particularly in that displayed toward Jesus Christ.

Acts 3:3-15 NHEBJE  Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive gifts for the needy.  (4)  Peter, fastening his eyes on him, with John, said, “Look at us.”  (5)  He listened to them, expecting to receive something from them.  (6)  But Peter said, “Silver and gold have I none, but what I have, that I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!”  (7)  He took him by the right hand, and raised him up. Immediately his feet and his ankle bones received strength.  (8)  Leaping up, he stood, and began to walk. He entered with them into the temple, walking, leaping, and praising God.  (9)  All the people saw him walking and praising God.  (10)  They recognized him, that it was he who used to sit begging for gifts for the needy at the Beautiful Gate of the temple. They were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.  (11)  And as he held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering.  (12)  When Peter saw it, he responded to the people, “You men of Israel, why do you marvel at this man? Why do you fasten your eyes on us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made him walk?  (13)  The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up, and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had determined to release him.  (14)  But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a man who was a murderer to be granted to you,  (15)  and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, to which we are witnesses.

Paul refers to the prophetic drama to illustrate, saying:

“Just as then the one born in the manner of flesh [Ishmael] began persecuting the one born in the manner of spirit [Isaac], so also now.” (Galatians 4:29)

And a later report, in reality a prophecy, describes the Kingdom’s establishment in heaven and the devil’s being hurled out of heaven down to the earth, with only a short time to continue his enmity. It concludes:

“And the dragon grew wrathful at the woman, and went off to wage war with the remaining ones of her seed, who observe the commandments of God and have the work of bearing witness to Jesus.” (Revelation 12:7-13, 17)

For sure the world shall have to face a terrible war, bigger and more fearful than the Great War. It shall be a war between people who claim to be fighting in the name of Allah/God, but they will be deceivers. Children and parents shall have many discussions with each other. Their internal, war between families shall be just part of the bigger picture where nation shall fight against nation and many shall ridicule religion and spit on the God of gods. Then we may see a war against the remnant of the woman’s seed which shall end when ‘Satan is crushed under their feet.’

Romans 16:20 NHEBJE  And the God of peace will quickly crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

First mention of a solution against death 5 Evil its law of death

There was a lovely harmony in the Garden of Eden. Man was free to walk around and live nicely. He also was free to think and to make choices. There it went wrong. The woman let her mind wander and got tempted by her thoughts, willing to know more.
We have seen that the yielding to the tempter or man’s mind doubting God‘s honesty is treated allegorically in the Edenic covenant as the serpent in the flesh. First man was full of life but now death had come to him. Temptation had taken over and evil had entered his mind. This evil is the “devil” or diabolos of the New Testament, which term is defined as “that which has the power of death” (Hebrews 2:14), elsewhere described as “the law of sin and death”, “sin that dwelleth in me”, “sin in the flesh” (Romans 7:20; Romans 8:2-3).

Hebrews 2:14-15 NHEBJE  Since then the children have shared in flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner partook of the same, that through death he might bring to nothing him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,  (15)  and might deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Eve was taken in by her thoughts which proofed not to be good thoughts.  Those ideas opposing God’s Wishes are considered bad thoughts. Going against God His Will is as declaring yourself to be against His ideas and opposing Him or to rival God, taking on the position of an opponent of God or an adversary (satan) of God.

Evil thoughts got so much power in man that it brought death to them but also put its stamp on all the rest of mankind. The act of the first two human beings created an awful situation for us. The curse of death having come over man also brought plants and animals in danger. Because now the mind of man was filled with darkness and their way of thinking became so blurred that often they would take the wrong decisions. At the beginning of the universe man had received the plants as food, meaning they had to be vegetarians or veganists. By the years following their expulsion from the Garden of Eden they were not happy any more by eating only plants and wanted also to eat meat, also becoming more like the animals, a carnivor. By doing so they also became killers of animal. They had taken their power to be master over plants and animals to be able to kill other living beings. Evil or badness in this way creped further in their life and as such evil or satan has become master or chief ruler of this world now. The enmity against God was so strong it became deeply rooted in the next generations.  Paul described how that this “warred against the law of my mind” (Romans 7:23), and in doing so gave expression to the enmity described by God in the 15th verse of Genesis 3.

Romans 7:23 NHEBJE  but I see a different law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity under the law of sin which is in my members.

God talking about the seed to come (a seed of a new generation), wanted mankind a solution for what they had caused and for those who had nothing to do with that first fault or wrong choice of Adam and Eve. God had asked not to touch nor to eat from the tree, which was a law for man. They ignored it, but with it they also did not listen to God.  Also later the many Laws provided by God to guide man, got ignored. Through the flesh every law would be weak. But the seed or the send one from God was to show the world that he who also was in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh, would be able to follow the Laws of God, not doing his own Will, but continually doing the Will of God. The action or attitude of that seed was going to contradict the thoughts of those taken by that ‘hissing in the mind’, the ‘serpent‘ or ‘evil’, the adversary of God, satan or the devil. Those coming after Adam and Eve also would have the choice to be after the flesh either to mind the things of the flesh or to love the things of the flesh. The loving harmony which subsisted between the Father and the son restored the relationship between God and mankind and could again bring liberation in the condemnation of sin in the flesh.

Romans 8:3 NHEBJE  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh;

Though there is constant enmity or animosity between the lusts of the flesh and the requirements of God as set down in His law those who would come into the seed of the woman and would follow his teachings could make themselves stronger and become once again in the spiritual life or after the Spirit (o. pneuma) or the things of the Spirit (o. pneuma) . In order to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually (o. pneuma) minded is life and peace.

Romans 8:5-10 NHEBJE  For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.  (6)  For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace;  (7)  because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God’s law, neither indeed can it be.  (8)  Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.  (9)  But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.  (10)  If Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness.

That the serpent is used allegorically of sin is shown by the punishment meted out to Israel when the people “spake against God, and against Moses” (Numbers 21:5). Serpents appeared among the people, the sting of which proved fatal (cp. 1 Corinthians 15:56), so that “much people of Israel died”.

1 Corinthians 15:56 NHEBJE  (56)  The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

In panic, the rest of the people appealed to Moses for help, and he interceded with God on their behalf. He was told to make a serpent of brass, and to set it on a pole, so that the people might view it. All who did so in faith were saved from the death that threatened them. The serpent on the pole illustrated to the people what they should do to the “serpent” within (the carnal mind that inflamed lust): they must crucify it if they would live.

The serpent or evil could put the seed on the pole, Jesus Christ being put to death, as a symbol of bringing the curse of evil and death to its end, Jesus vanquish evil by giving his unblemished body as a ransom for all who had that sin of the flesh. His decision only to follow God His Will has overcome the fault of those who followed their own will, ignoring God’s Will.

Unlike the active serpents on the ground, there was no venom in the serpent on the pole (not by Moses, not by Jesus Christ); similarly sin must be neutralised in us if we would live. At the time of Moses the serpent on the pole could also representing that seed promised in the Garden of Eden, the Lord Jesus Christ who came in the nature common to all. On several occasions he compared his crucifixion with the “lifting up” of the serpent in the wilderness (John 3:14-16; John 8:28; John 12:32), thus identifying his nature with the allegorical significance of the serpent.

John 3:14-21 NHEBJE  As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,  (15)  that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.  (16)  For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.  (17)  For God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him.  (18)  He who believes in him is not judged. He who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God.  (19)  This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil.  (20)  For everyone who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his works would be exposed.  (21)  But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be revealed, that they have been done in God.”

All About Evil
All About Evil (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

We do live in a time now that people should be able to see who God has send to the earth and has lifted up. Today there are still too many, even people who call themselves Christian, who do not want to believe Jesus is that seed God has promised and send to the earth. They still do not want to believe Jesus is really the son of God and not a god son. They still do not want to accept that Jesus did not his own will (which he would have done when he is God) and and that he did nothing on his own authority, but spoke just as his heavenly Father taught him.

John 8:28-29 NHEBJE  Jesus therefore said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and I do nothing of myself, but as the Father taught me, I say these things.  (29)  He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn’t left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”

John 12:32 NHEBJE  And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw everyone to myself.”

In the seed, which always did only those things that pleased Jehovah God, would come power to battle the evil. All those who would come to recognise that seed and would come under it, multiplying in unity trying to put away those fleshly lusts would be able to put their flesh to death at the stake to gain life in the mind of Christ.

First mention of a solution against death 4 A seed for mankind

Vanity and the hope to be as God, knowing everything and being able to do everything, man made the wrong choice, going in against the Will of God, disobeying His mitzvot not to touch or eat of the tree of knowledge of good and bad.

The Divine Creator is a God of order, clarity, Who does not tell lies (= always telling the truth) and does not create chaos or confusion. (1 Corinthians 14:33) Man should have known that God always told the truth. But by letting his thoughts wander about, he was caught by his own bad thoughts that God would keep something hidden from him or did not want to give him what he also should own.

As He had promised they would get to know life and death, He cursed them to the hard labour which they previously never had to do. And having made out of dust, God told them they would return to it, becoming dust again, meaning to die and then to decay. (Genesis 3:19)

(Genesis 3:19 ASV): “in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”

In the previous chapters we discussed that what happened to Adam and Eve still happens to us every day. Temptation today still follows the same pattern with us as it did with Eve in the Garden of Eden. Always there is first the arousing of desire; then the mind, seizing upon that desire, rationalizes it to make it seem reasonable, proper, and profitable. Then the will acts — and often immediately confusion, guilt, blame, and a sense of limitation follows without fail. The process is absolutely relentless.

Adam and Eve thought, like we often do, that we can hide ourselves. We may think that we have hidden things we did from the eyes of man, and oftentimes many of us are deluded into thinking that because no human being knows about our guilt, nothing has happened.

Yet within us, whenever we yield to evil, a darkness falls and death tightens its grip upon our throat. {Ray C. Stedman}

When addressing the evil God shows His understanding and shows His willingness to provide help in their hopeless situation. It is not that man shall be able to escape for what they have done. No, there is the curse for the woman and for the man. and to the evil or the adversary of Him, Jehovah says

Genesis 3:15 NHEBJE  I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel.”

The evil or satan shall become subject of a war  to the “death”. The thoughts Eve had, would now also come to her children, dwelling in them they shall be troubled by desires, vanity, and other bad things, bringing them into captivity to the law of sin which is in their members

Romans 7:18-23 NHEBJE  For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but to do that which is good is not.  (19)  For the good which I desire, I do not do; but the evil which I do not desire, that I practice.  (20)  But if what I do not desire, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me.  (21)  I find then the law, that, to me, while I desire to do good, evil is present.  (22)  For I delight in God’s law after the inward man,  (23)  but I see a different law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity under the law of sin which is in my members.

For those who have that incapacity to be fully correct or without fault, God did not want that they would not have to face total destruction. Speaking out His judgement over Adam and Eve the Divine Creator spoke about a future saviour. Some one who would be able to break the curse of death. Between the bad thoughts and the way of righteousness shall be a battle. Those who would like to follow their own self-love and what made Eve from this world shall find tribulation and lots of problems in this world, not strong enough to fight them. Though others who not want to be of that world shall be able to be stronger and find their way out, though the world may hate them.

John 15:19 NHEBJE  If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

John 16:33 NHEBJE  I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.”

Yes, there will be one coming, by the promise of the Most High, who can call himself the only begotten son of God. Though the mind of the flesh may be hostile to God (Romans 8:6-7) this provider foreseen by God in the Garden of Eden, after the fall of man, long before Abraham, is the one we all have to look for and have to find. In him we shall have to put our faith to come away under the curse of death. He is the only man who succeeded to be without fault. He always managed to do God His Will. Though he was tempted many times (in the desert, in the square of the village and in the town, in the temple, in the garden of Gethsemane) he never gave in to the temptation, always wanting to do God His will instead of his own will.

Luke 22:41-42 NHEBJE  He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and he knelt down and prayed,  (42)  saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

The writer of Bereshith notates God’s declaration that there shall be a separating of the serpent (the evil, the temptation) from the woman, and tells about the provision of a solution, which we shall hear about in later books as well. In the third chapter of Genesis we find  the basis for the first promise of redemption which must be interpreted allegorically. In that light, the serpent stood for what it proclaimed:

“Ye shall not surely die” (v. 4).

This error was an emanation of the thinking of the flesh called “the carnal mind” by the apostle Paul, which, he declared

“is enmity against God” (Romans 8:7).

Moses lets us understand that there in the Garden of Eden was the base of our problems. There the first man and woman doubting God and His honesty, they becoming adversaries or enemies of God. Eve her thoughts are represented as the creeping animal, a serpent which became “the father of lies“, and all who endorse or proclaim error are considered as its seed, or children.

John 8:44 NHEBJE  You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and its father.

Accordingly, in the allegorical signification of this statement, the serpent represents the spirit of error and deceit as it emanates from the carnal mind. It is frequently used for those who oppose the Truth (Psalms 58:4; 140:3; Matthew 23:33; Revelation 12:9), manifesting themselves as adversaries of the righteous. Its error stemmed from its presumption in reasoning upon Divine law from the standpoint of the flesh. This philosophy caused Eve to view the forbidden tree anew, and its attractive appearance aroused in her the latent propensities of the flesh which then became active and demanding.

“The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life”

which John teaches is

“not of the Father, but is of the world” (1 John 2:16)

were inflamed, and became “the word of the serpent” made flesh in her.

Adam and Eve wanted so much to have that knowledge of good and evil. Their aspiration to own that knowledge was fed by their lust for more. Paul calls such ‘wants’ “lusts” and gives them the title of sin in the flesh (Romans 8:3), or “sin that dwelleth in me” (Romans 7:20).

Romans 8:3 NHEBJE  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh;

The sending of that son is God’s solution for mankind. Though evil shall do everything to try to destroy him, it shall not succeed.

By the offspring of the woman the world shall come to see a Virgin Birth where “It” (AV), a singular seed, shall “bruise” (AV), or “Shuwph” = to crush (Job 9:17).  This enmity which had come into existence, between man and God, is seeking the destruction of the higher interests of man. While it will inflict injury, this enmity is subject to the ultimate conquest of man.

The sorrow of woman consequent upon the Fall brings God now having a woman bringing life to a man, but this time not without pain. Also the seed God provides shall bring lots of pain to his mother and generations shall look up at that miserable pain this son of hers had to endure.

God-breathed prophetic words written torah and the mitzvot to teach us

Here you can find the bible verses by the previous article:

Necessary to be known all over the earth

“23  but the words, “it was credited to his account…, ”were not written for him only. 24 they were written also for us, who will certainly have our account credited too, because we have trusted in him who raised Yeshua our lord from the dead-” (Romans 4:23-24 CJB)

“for everything written in the past was written to teach us, so that with the encouragement of the Tanakh we might patiently hold on to our hope.” (Romans 15:4 CJB)

“16 all Scripture is god-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in right living; 17 thus anyone who belongs to god may be fully equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17 CJB)

“19  yes, we have the prophetic word made very certain. you will do well to pay attention to it as to a light shining in a dark, murky place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 first of all, understand this: no prophecy of Scripture is to be interpreted by an individual on his own; 21 for never has a prophecy come as a result of human willing – on the contrary, people moved by the  Ruach haKodesh spoke a message from god.” (2 Peter 1:19-21 CJB)

“he has to remain in heaven until the time comes for restoring everything, as god said long ago, when he spoke through the holy prophets.” (Acts 3:21 CJB)

“{A: v, S: iv} “these words ADONAI spoke to your entire gathering at the mountain from fire, cloud and thick mist, in a loud voice; then it ceased. but he wrote them on two stone tablets, which he gave to me.” (Deuteronomy 5:22 CJB)

“8 you are to write on the stones all the words of this torah very clearly.” 9 next Moshe and the cohanim, who are L’vi’im, spoke to all Isra’el. they said, “be quiet; and listen, Isra’el! today you have become the people of ADONAI your god. 10 therefore you are to listen to what ADONAI your god says and obey his mitzvot and laws, which I am giving you today.”” (Deuteronomy 27:8-10 CJB)

“2 “the spirit of ADONAI spoke through me, his word was on my tongue. 3 the god of Isra’el spoke; the rock of Isra’el said to me, ‘A ruler over people must be upright, ruling in the fear of god; 4 like the morning light at sunrise on a cloudless day that makes the grass on the earth sparkle after a rain.’” (2 Samuel 23:2-4 CJB)

““isn’t my word like fire,” asks ADONAI, “like a hammer shattering rocks?” (Jeremiah 23:29 CJB)

“then he answered me, “this is the word of ADONAI to Z’rubavel: ‘not by force, and not by power, but by my spirit,’ says ADONAI-Tzva’ot.” (Zechariah 4:6 CJB)

“yes, they made their hearts as hard as a diamond, so that they wouldn’t hear the torah and the messages that ADONAI-Tzva’ot had sent by his spirit through the earlier prophets. this is why great anger came from ADONAI-Tzva’ot;” (Zechariah 7:12 CJB)

“David himself, inspired by the Ruach haKodesh, said, ‘ADONAI said to my lord, “sit here at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.’” {#Ps 110:1}” (Mark 12:36 CJB)

““brothers, the Ruach haKodesh spoke in advance through David about Y’hudah, and these words of the Tanakh had to be fulfilled. he was guide for those who arrested Yeshua—” (Acts 1:16 CJB)

“but this is how god fulfilled what he had announced in advance, when he spoke through all the prophets, namely, that his Messiah was to die.” (Acts 3:18 CJB)

“(12:14) by a prophet ADONAI brought Isra’el up from Egypt, and by a prophet he was protected.” (Hosea 12:13 CJB)

“in my distress my comfort is this: that your promise gives me life.” (Psalms 119:50 CJB)

“for the mitzvah is a lamp, torah is light, and reproofs that discipline are the way to life.” (Proverbs 6:23 CJB)

“but displaying grace to the thousandth generation of those who love me and obey my mitzvot.” (Exodus 20:6 CJB)

“ADONAI said to Moshe, “come up to me on the mountain, and stay there. I will give you the stone tablets with the torah and the mitzvot I have written on them, so that you can teach them.” (Exodus 24:12 CJB)

“observe the charge of ADONAI your god to go in his ways and keep his regulations, mitzvot, rulings and instructions in accordance with what is written in the torah of Moshe; so that you will succeed in all you do and wherever you go.” (1 Kings 2:3 CJB)

“so be wholehearted with ADONAI our god, living by his laws and observing his mitzvot, as you are doing today.”” (1 Kings 8:61 CJB)

“all the more does he say this for our sakes. yes, it was written for us, meaning that he who plows and he who threshes should work expecting to get a share of the crop.” (1 Corinthians 9:10 CJB)

“these things happened to them as prefigurative historical events, and they were written down as a warning to us who are living in the acharit-hayamim.” (1 Corinthians 10:11 CJB)

“for ADONAI corrects those he loves like a father who delights in his son.” (Proverbs 3:12 CJB)

“he must hold firmly to the trustworthy message that agrees with the doctrine; so that by his sound teaching he will be able to exhort and encourage, and also to refute those who speak against it.” (Titus 1:9 CJB)

“the sexually immoral – both heterosexual and homosexual – slave dealers, liars, perjurers, and anyone who acts contrary to the sound teaching” (1 Timothy 1:10 CJB)

“if anyone teaches differently and does not agree to the sound precepts of our lord Yeshua the Messiah and to the doctrine that is in keeping with godliness,” (1 Timothy 6:3 CJB)

“follow the pattern of the sound teachings you have heard from me, with trust and the love which is yours in the Messiah Yeshua.” (2 Timothy 1:13 CJB)

“and it’s true! for this reason, you must be severe when you rebuke those who have followed this false teaching, so that they will come to be sound in their trust” (Titus 1:13 CJB)

“also you have forgotten the counsel which speaks with you as sons: “my son, don’t despise the discipline of ADONAI or become despondent when he corrects you.” (Hebrews 12:5 CJB)

“(his talmidim later recalled that the Tanakh says, “zeal for your house will devour me.”) {#Ps 69:9}” (John 2:17 CJB)

“it is the spirit who gives life, the flesh is no help. the words I have spoken to you are spirit and life,” (John 6:63 CJB)

“23 Yeshua answered him, “if someone loves me, he will keep my word; and my father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 someone who doesn’t love me doesn’t keep my words—and the word you are hearing is not my own but that of the father who sent me. 25  “I have told you these things while I am still with you. 26 but the counselor, the Ruach haKodesh, whom the father will send in my name, will teach you everything; that is, he will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 “what I am leaving with you is shalom —I am giving you my shalom. I don’t give the way the world gives. don’t let yourselves be upset or frightened. 28  you heard me tell you, ‘I am leaving, and I will come back to you.’ if you loved me, you would have been glad that I am going to the father; because the father is greater than I. 29 “also, I have said it to you now, before it happens; so that when it does happen, you will trust. 30 “I won’t be talking with you much longer, because the ruler of this world is coming. he has no claim on me; 31 rather, this is happening so that the world may know that I love the father, and that I do as the father has commanded me. “get up! let’s get going!” (John 14:23-31 CJB)

“so Yeshua gave them an answer: “my teaching is not my own, it comes from the one who sent me.” (John 7:16 CJB)

“for I have not spoken on my own initiative, but the father who sent me has given me a command, namely, what to say and how to say it.” (John 12:49 CJB)

“10 don’t you believe that I am united with the father, and the father united with me? what I am telling you, I am not saying on my own initiative; the father living in me is doing his own works. 11 trust me, that I am united with the father, and the father united with me. but if you can’t, then trust because of the works themselves. 12  yes, indeed! I tell you that whoever trusts in me will also do the works I do! indeed, he will do greater ones, because I am going to the father. 13 in fact, whatever you ask for in my name, I will do; so that the father may be glorified in the son. 14 if you ask me for something in my name, I will do it. 15  “if you love me, you will keep my commands; 16 and I will ask the father, and he will give you another comforting counselor like me, the spirit of truth, to be with you forever. 17 the world cannot receive him, because it neither sees nor knows him. you know him, because he is staying with you and will be united with you. 18  I will not leave you orphans—I am coming to you.” (John 14:10-18 CJB)

“while others refused to believe. so they left, disagreeing among themselves, after sha’ul had made one final statement: “the Ruach haKodesh spoke well in saying to your fathers through Yesha‘yahu the prophet,” (Acts 28:25 CJB)

“10  finally, grow powerful in union with the lord, in union with his mighty strength! 11 use all the armor and weaponry that god provides, so that you will be able to stand against the deceptive tactics of the adversary. 12 for we are not struggling against human beings, but against the rulers, authorities and cosmic powers governing this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm. 13 so take up every piece of war equipment god provides; so that when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist; and when the battle is won, you will still be standing. 14 therefore, stand! have the belt of truth buckled around your waist, {#Isa 11:5} put on righteousness for a breastplate, {#Isa 59:17} 15 and wear on your feet the readiness that comes from the good news of shalom. {#Isa 52:7} 16 always carry the shield of trust, with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 and take the helmet of deliverance; {#Isa 59:17} along with the sword given by the spirit, that is, the word of god;” (Ephesians 6:10-17 CJB)

“but since we belong to the day, let us stay sober, putting on trust and love as a breastplate and the hope of being delivered as a helmet. {#Isa 59:17}” (1 Thessalonians 5:8 CJB)

“it is the spirit who gives life, the flesh is no help. the words I have spoken to you are spirit and life,” (John 6:63 CJB)

“see, the word of god is alive! it is at work and is sharper than any doubleedged sword – it cuts right through to where soul meets spirit and joints meet marrow, and it is quick to judge the inner reflections and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12 CJB)

“then he is rid of his duty to honor his father or mother.’ thus by your tradition you make null and void the word of god!” (Matthew 15:6 CJB)

“thus, with your tradition which you had handed down to you, you nullify the word of god! and you do other things like this.”” (Mark 7:13 CJB)

“you have been born again not from some seed that will decay, but from one that cannot decay, through the living word of god that lasts forever.” (1 Peter 1:23 CJB)

“the emissaries and the brothers throughout Y’hudah heard that the Goyim had received the word of god;” (Acts 11:1 CJB)

“another reason we regularly thank god is that when you heard the word of god from us, you received it not merely as a human word, but as it truly is, god’s word, which is at work in you believers.” (1 Thessalonians 2:13 CJB)

“when we say this, we base it on the lord’s own word: we who remain alive when the lord comes will certainly not take precedence over those who have died.” (1 Thessalonians 4:15 CJB)

“having made his decision, he gave birth to us through a word that can be relied upon, in order that we should be a kind of firstfruits of all that he created.” (James 1:18 CJB)

Necessary to be known all over the earth

Up until now we have seen that there is Only One Divine Creator Deity Who made everything and Who provided His Word for His creatures living on this planet.

Our world part of God's universe
Our world part of God’s universe

There are many more planets than ours, but we are told by the Words of God how He created our universe and not only gave His Words to His chosen men like Abraham. His words He wants all people to hear them and listen to them, following them up, taking them at heart like the greatest treasure.

In the Garden of Eden things got wrong by man going against God. They had heard and understood what He had said, but thought He was kidding them or withholding something precious for them. When their adversary against the Most High Maker got them in trouble, God provided a solution for them and promised a saviour who would conquer the curse of death.

Though to become safe under the promise of salvation God demands respect for His Word and wants us to embrace and believe the One who brought Jesus to life when the conditions were equally hopeless. (Romans 4:23-24)

Even if it was written in Scripture long ago, you can be sure it’s written also for us. God wants the combination of his steady, constant calling and warm, personal counsel in Scripture to come to characterize us, keeping us alert for whatever He will do next. (Romans 15:4 Message) He asked special chosen people to write down what God found necessary to be known all over the earth. Every yot, every little word is there for a special reason and God would not like it when people would fiddle around with it and change the Words of the scrolls He let to survive in the world. Though many people fought against those words and against the believers in those words, the Word of God stayed untouched, unchanged, and shall be here for ever.

All the world should come to know that every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another — showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Even those who do not believe in God could learn a lot form His Words notated in the Book of books, which has become a best-seller in the world of publications. It also has become the most criticised and discussed word for ever.

Mankind is formed by that Word of God. First of all man himself was created by the Word of God, God speaking and letting man become part of His creation in God His own image. As such also each individual has enough in him or her to come to know Who is behind its being. Each person has in him or in her some force which gives some signs or doubts by which the person shall question its Maker.

Through the Word we are created or put together and by the Word we can let us whole character being shaped up for the tasks God has for us. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Those in doubt should see the ones who have faith and hear the ones who  couldn’t be more sure of what they saw and heard — God’s glory, God’s voice. Enough people are convinced and willing to let others know that the prophetic Word was confirmed to them. You’ll do well to keep focusing on it. It’s the one light you have in a dark time as you wait for daybreak and the rising of the Morning Star in your hearts. The main thing to keep in mind here is that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of private opinion. The men of totally different character did not hide their faults and weaknesses and where willing to share their fears and thoughts with those who wanted to read those Words of God. When writing in the Name of God, they just could not hide anything for their readers, like nobody can hide something for God. That what they wrote down for later generations to find was not something concocted in the human heart, but was brought to their mind by the Force of God, the Holy Spirit. Prophecy resulted when the Holy Spirit prompted men and women to speak God’s Word.” (2 Peter 1:19-21)

Throughout the ages God guided His people. He protected those who wanted to listen to Him and who followed His orders. People could come to see that what was written down was not just some human fantasy, but all those prophesies brought by the men of God became a reality (except the few which still have to happen). Some prophesies are still given for the future, but like the others, should be a signal for the believers to make sure that they shall be ready when they happen.  For the time being the send one from God, who is taken back into heaven, must remain out of sight in heaven until everything is restored to order again just the way God, through the preaching of his holy prophets of old, said it would be. (Acts of the apostles 3:21)

Lovers of God, gathering to praise the Most High – Breaking of Bread Singing at a Christadelphian Hall

As in the old times, today people also should gather with like-minded people. Those who believe in the Words of God, should unite to read and to study the Word of God.  These Words were spoken in the old times but are also the words that Jehovah God speaks today. As they were centuries ago for those who came together in houses or in synagogues, they should inspire people coming together either in their own houses, special meeting places, synagogues or churches. Like there were whole congregations at different places, we should share the Word of God in communities also all over the world. In those houses, ecclesiae, all should come to hear that blessed Word of God. They should wonder about how God spoke in a tremendous Voice from the fire and cloud and dark mist.  (Deuteronomy 5:22)

More than once in history God revealed many things of precious matter. God asked them to be  “Incised sharply”. Like all Israel was addressed, now the whole world is addressed and asked to “Listen obediently”. At first the promise was given to the descendants of Abraham, the people of Israel. but oh so often they went wrong or astray and time came that God provided openings for gentiles to come close again to their Maker. This very day many have become the people of God, the God of Israel.
Therefore we should give our ears and heart to our God. It is high time for mankind to listen to the Voice of God, the Elohim Hashem Jehovah. Already millennia He asks man to keep His commandments and regulations. Lots of people still do not want to know. But at the patience of God shall come an end, or better said, at due time god shall find it time to continue with His precious Plan.

God’s Spirit has spoken through many chosen people and God is willing to have His Spirit speak to all who wants to give Him their ear. Though He demands that we shall take Him serious and that His words shall take shape in our heart and on our tongue.

The God of Israel is the God of Abraham Who wants the world to know that He is a Fair and Just God, Who is searching the heart and looks for those who governs fairly and well and who rules in the Fear-of-God. (2 Samuel 23:2-4)

God His message to the world is like fire and God’s Decree is like a sledgehammer busting a rock. (Jeremiah 23:29) We should recognise Its Power and find in it also the power to change not only our selves but also to help change others. Though we should know that we can’t force these things. They only come about through God His Spirit, His Supreme Power, which can make or brake.

In the past we could see that many went against the God of gods and how they steeled themselves against God’s revelation and the Spirit-filled sermons preached by the earlier prophets by order of Jehovah God-of-the-Angel-Armies. And The God of gods became angry, really angry. (Zechariah 7:12)

How long does the world want to test God? How long shall God let the adversaries of God make the world not such a pleasant place to be? We may be sure there shall come an end to the ruling of human beings. There shall come a time when God shall have the send one from Him to govern. This sent one now sits at God His right hand until Jehovah will put our enemies under the feet of the one from the lineage of king David. (Mark 12:36)

Long ago the Holy Spirit spoke through David regarding Judas, who became the guide to those who arrested Jesus. That the Tanakh or Scripture had to be fulfilled, and now has been. (Acts 1:16) the last reason has taken place to bring the fulfilment of previous prophesies about the provision of the Most High. That betrayed son of God, a man of flesh and blood, who knew his place and wanted only to do his heavenly Father‘s Will and not his own will, offered himself for mankind. By his ransom all debts are paid and are we too liberated. By Christ Jesus his ransom offering all men and women can come to Jesus his heavenly Father and say like Jesus Abba to Him Who created heaven and earth.

God, who through the preaching of all the prophets had said all along that his Messiah would be killed, knew exactly what the people at that time were doing. But He also knows what we are doing and what is going on in our hearts. (1 Samuel 16:7; Proverbs 21:2; Jeremiah 17:10)

God has given every person enough time to show others their real identity and to have it formed through God-sent prophets. It is up to each individual either to want or to reject a good relationship with their Maker.

To help us to go through life, God has given His Words. They can guide us and help us in good and bad circumstances.  Those words can hold up in bad times and all should know that God His promises shall rejuvenate many.  For the mitzvah, God’s commands provides sound advice being a beacon, good teaching a light, moral discipline being a life path. (Proverbs 6:23) And Jehovah God is unswervingly loyal to the thousands who love Him and keep His mitzvot or commandments. (Exodus 20:6)

All the world should come to recognise that the Most High Elohim has given His teachings and commandments to instruct mankind. We should believe and do what God tells us to believe and to do, and should not be cling to human traditions and false teachings. Even when we first latched onto some false teachings it is never to late to change idea and to go for the pure Word of God. Never is it to late to walk in the paths God shows you.
Follow the life-map absolutely, keep an eye out for the signposts, God His course for life set out in the revelation to Moses; then you’ll get on well in whatever you do and wherever you go.
We all have the free choice, but we should know that God demands loyalty. Our lives must be totally obedient to the One and Only One God, our personal God, following the life path He has cleared, alert and attentive to everything He has made plain this day. (Exodus 24:12; 1 Kings 2:3; 1 Kings 8:61)

Don’t you think His concern extends to us?

In the Word of God, put together in the library of 66 books, called the Bible,  we can find  all warning markers —Danger! We should take the Bible also as our history book, written down so that we don’t repeat the mistakes of the people spoken about in it. Our positions in the story are parallel — they at the beginning, we at the end — and we are just as capable of messing it up as they were. This we should take at heart seriously. And we should be careful not to fall in the traps of man. Living in this period were we are coming closer to the Acharit-hayamim or the ends of system of things we must make the right choice and than God shall be willing to avoid too strong temptations and shall provide the way out in order for us to be able to endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:11-13)

This website is just at its beginning state, but we do hope we shall be able to get people coming along and to share the Message of the Good News in the knowledge that we need the corrections by God through His Word and through His Spirit. As brothers and sisters in Christ and as children of God we want to come closer to the Most High with the knowledge that it’s the child God loves that Jehovah the God of gods corrects. A father’s delight is behind all this. (Proverbs 3:12)

It is our sincere hope we and our visitors may get a good grip on the Message, knowing how to use the truth to either spur people on in knowledge or stop them in their tracks if they oppose it. (Titus 1:9)

In our love to the Most High God and being thankful for God’s son his ransom-offering we also want to follow the instructions given by Jeshua, (Jesus Christ) God’s son, our Master teacher, and go out into the world preaching the message of peace and the coming Kingdom of God.

Our faith and love is rooted in Christ, exactly as Paul and the other apostles set it out for us. (2 Timothy 1:13)

Those who say they love Jesus should carefully keep his word and remember what Jesus said about him and his heavenly Father. The message Jesus brought was not his message because he is not God himself. If Jesus is God, it would have been his message. Jeshua (Jesus Christ) who also said he could not do anything without his Father said he brought the message of the Father who sent him. The Father is the goal and purpose of Jesus his life and should also be our goal and purpose.

Today we have the words of Christ who told his disciples ahead of time that he would ask his Father to give them insight so that when it happened, the confirmation was to deepen their but also our belief in Jesus. The world might know how thoroughly Jesus loves the Father and how he is carrying out not his own will but his Father’s instructions right down to the last detail.  Jesus didn’t make those things up. What he taught came from the One who sent him. It was the Father who sent Jesus Who gave him orders, told him what to say and how to say it. (John 7:16; John 12:49; John 14:23-31)

The apostles later wrote down all the things we should know about Jeshua (Jesus Christ) the Messiah, so that the world should come to know him and the One who had sent His only begotten son to the world to save it.
The words Jesus spoke to his disciples and the listeners and curious ones around him were not mere words. We should be fully aware what it means that those words were not made up on his own. The Father who resided Jesus crafted each word into a divine act. This we should believe. In Jesus we should find our rabbi or master teacher. We also should trusts him and follow up his words, becoming a follower of Christ or being a Christian.

Hanged on a stake as a criminal but also as the King of the Jews
Hanged on a stake as a criminal but also as the King of the Jews

In Christ we can find salvation and shall find the way to the Father. Therefore to get to know the words and works of Christ we also should read what the apostles wrote about him. Those writings from the New Testament are the complementary writings to the ones from the Old Testament. Only with taking up both big units shall people come to the full insight and total understanding.

We should be aware that the godless world can’t take the Spirit of truth in because it doesn’t have eyes to see Him, doesn’t know what to look for.

God is strong, and he wants us strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the adversary throws your way. With the Word of God in our heart we ourselves can grow but shall find ourselves the best tool to bring others to the truth. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. (Ephesians 6:10-17e)

God means what He says. What He says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. (Hebrews 4:12) All who find God should put away their old life. Your old birth came from mortal sperm; your new birth comes from God’s living Word. Just think: a life conceived by God himself! (1 Peter 1:23)

When you got the Message of God the apostles preached and you didn’t pass it off as just one more human opinion, but you took it to heart as God’s true word to you, which it is, God himself is at work in you believers you too should go out and proclaim the Word of God, getting others to learn the truth as well. (1 Thessalonians 2:13)

Take up the Word of God, read it, study it and take with you every day of your life as the most precious treasure, and God will bless you.

Necessity of a revelation of creation 10 Instructions for insight and wisdom

In Necessity of a revelation of creation 9 Searching the Scriptures we looked at the reason to go searching in the Book of books for truth. Throughout history man sought to get more wisdom and insight and therefore looked for the wisdom of the gods, but the world should know to find the true wisdom they best go looking for the Words of the One and Only One God, the Elohim Hashem Jehovah.  He is the best Instructor for mankind. He created man and knows what is best for them. He is willing to talk to them when they are prepared to listen to Him. He also provided His Word for them which is available to all in book-form so that nobody has an excuse not having been able to come in touch with it. This God of gods is always there to give you wisdom, insight and understanding.

English: The Apostle Paul
The Apostle Paul (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

This God of gods also send forth His only begotten beloved son who educated his disciples to become apostles bringing the Good News proclaiming the Word of God of salvation. In such a way we for example find the apostle Paul as a prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of the Gentiles,  the non-Jews and those who were not part of the chosen people of God to bring them the news about the administration or stewardship of the grace of God which was given him toward us; how that by revelation the mystery was made known to him, as he wrote before in few words.  He, bestowed this privilege, of making known to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ, mastered this secret of Christ’s and wants others to master it too. With his many writings we now have that opportunity.

Eph 3:1-3 NHEBJE  For this cause I, Paul, am the prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles,  (2)  if it is so that you have heard of the administration of that grace of God which was given me toward you;  (3)  how that by revelation the mystery was made known to me, as I wrote before in few words,

Those who know the Word of God and call themselves Christian should follow the masters teachings and follow up the task of going out into the world preaching the Word of God. By reading that Word of God, God will know how you long for Him and long for others to be apart of that Body of Christ as well. By continues study of that Word of God you, with the tenderness of Jesus Christ himself, will make it that you come to more insight and will have your love grow richer and richer yet, in the fullness of its knowledge and the depth of its perception, so that you may learn to prize what is of value. Though we should be careful not to let us be carried away by human teachings or man’s doctrines which may cloud your faithfulness to Only One God and will make cloud your conscience or hinder your progress till the day when Christ comes. If you take the words of Jesus Christ for what they really say and mean you shall find that you may reap, through Jesus Christ, the full harvest of your justification to God’s glory and praise.

Php 1:9-11 NHEBJE  This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment;  (10)  so that you may approve the things that are excellent; that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Christ;  (11)  being filled with the fruit of righteousness, which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

In the knowledge that we are all limited in time and that we if we are dead with Christ, we shall also live with Jeshua, Jesus the Messiah, this with the understand what is said in the Book of books have to be taken as words given to us so that God may give us understanding in all things so that we may obtain the saving health which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

2Ti 2:7-10 NHEBJE  Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in all things.  (8)  Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my Good News,  (9)  in which I suffer hardship to the point of chains as a criminal. But God’s word is not chained.  (10)  Therefore I endure all things for the chosen ones’ sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

Already in the times of Moses God called man to come to Him and to follow the tables of stone and the law and commandments which He has written to teach man. Men of God could teach the statutes and rights, which God Had ordered them to tell others, that they might do them in the regions they were going to live. Man has to know that until heaven and earth pass, not one jot or one tittle shall pass from the law until all is fulfilled.  They also had to be conscious of it that the ones whosoever shall undo even one of the least commandments and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of the heavens; but whosoever shall do and teach, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.

Mat 5:18-19 NHEBJE  For truly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the Law, until all things are accomplished.  (19)  Whoever, therefore, shall break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Moses commanded us a law, an inheritance for the assembly of Jacob (Deuteronomy 33:4). Those who take Jeshua as their rabbi, as followers of him (Christians) should also be happy to be members of that inheritance, which means they also shall have to comply to those laws and instructions God has given.

Neh 1:8-9 NHEBJE  “Remember, I beg you, the word that you commanded your servant Moses, saying, ‘If you trespass, I will scatter you abroad among the peoples;  (9)  but if you return to me, and keep my commandments and do them, though your outcasts were in the uttermost part of the heavens, yet will I gather them from there, and will bring them to the place that I have chosen, to cause my name to dwell there.’

Though many may ask us

Job 22:12-13 NHEBJE  “Isn’t God in the heights of heaven? See the height of the stars, how high they are!  (13)  You say, ‘What does God know? Can he judge through the thick darkness?

Many man will you keep the old way, which wicked men have trodden, who were snatched away before their time, whose foundation was poured out as a stream, who said to God,

‘Depart from us;’ and, ‘What can Shaddai do for us?’ (Job 22:17)

The Elohim though, is always there, available for those who want to go looking for Him. They that from their heart are willing to go searching for the Truth shall receive instruction from God His mouth, when they are willing to look in the Holy Scriptures and lay up His words in their heart. (Job 22:22)

Psa 50:7-17 NHEBJE  “Hear, my people, and I will speak; Israel, and I will testify against you. I am God, your God.  (8)  I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices. Your burnt offerings are continually before me.  (9)  I have no need for a bull from your stall, nor male goats from your pens.  (10)  For every animal of the forest is mine, and the livestock on a thousand hills.  (11)  I know all the birds of the mountains. The wild animals of the field are mine.  (12)  If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it.  (13)  Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?  (14)  Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving. Pay your vows to the Most High.  (15)  Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”  (16)  But to the wicked God says, “What right do you have to declare my statutes, that you have taken my covenant on your lips,  (17)  seeing you hate instruction, and throw my words behind you?

Forbidden Fruit in the Midst of the Garden 1

The Aeon Eye with Alexander Rivera looks also at the very beginning of the Bible and the Torah where we are presented with the idea of the origins of mankind in the Primordial Garden of Eden that we first see in the Book of Genesis, the Bereshith.

Alexander Rivera remarks:

The traditional Orthodox reading of this story, of course, presents the age-old legend as literal evidence for the claim of mankind’s original sin and subsequent fall from primordial perfection and divine grace, as if God was still holding an eternal grudge against mankind for eating a fruit that he created in the first place, and still cursing mankind and the world for a multitude of generations after the fact. From this disobedience to God, alienation was given rise from the creator and humanity was once again condemned under the Law that God later gave to Moses at Mt. Sinai. In this reading, humanity is specifically condemned because of their inherently wickedness due to their rebellion and disobedience. And so the story goes, God had to send his innocent Son to die a cruel death to shed his blood to atone for the transgressions of a sinful and destitute humanity. Yet, beneath this callous, misanthropic reading lies a deeper layer of spiritual truth.

In the previous Readings from the Scriptures we could see how the female got tempted to get to know more about good and evil and how there was a delight to the eyes, the tree to be desired to make one wise. When she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat she wanted her partner also to be part of her disobedience to the Elohim. She lured him into eating of it as well, though God had prohibited them to touch the tree.

By eating of this tree of the forbidden fruit the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig-leaves together, and made themselves aprons. Suddenly the innocence of nakedness made place for an uncomfortable feeling. Their discomfort being so naked for each other and for the rest around them gave them a bad feeling.

Throughout history the story of the beginning of sin got merciless made in a weapon to unconscionably  threaten people with demons, un-heavenly creatures who would damage the human soul and torture the human beings who got tempted by their words and actions. Their living quarters being deep under the ground in the burning alcoves of the underworld.

In the Bereshith, the Tanakh, the Holy Jewish and Christian Bible the adversary of God, could be any tempter, but people wanted to see not themselves in it but preferred to see an extra-terrestrial being in it, giving the noun satan (adversary) the surnames Satan and Lucifer. We do not know if it is like Alexander Rivera thinks that this interpretation would have come into the picture much later with the Book of Wisdom (2:23-24) revealing in this version:

For God created man to be immortal, and made him to be an image of his own eternity. Nevertheless through envy of the devil came death into the world: and they that do hold of his side do find it.

Irenaeus, the Bishop of Lyons, writes in Against Heresies 5.23, which started the ball rolling for the Orthodox exegetic interpretation:

But that God was true, and the serpent a liar, was proved by the result, death having passed upon them who had eaten. For along with the fruit they did also fall under the power of death, because they did eat in disobedience; and disobedience to God entails death. Wherefore, as they became forfeit to death, from that [moment] they were handed over to it.

Originally the serpent was the metaphor for the creeping evil, the danger that could come up to man, and by moments could have been very beautiful and attractive, very cunning. In life we can encounter slyness and man has found ways to use subtlety and tricks to bring deceit, not always playing clever or subtle games.

In the Revelation of John 12:9, the serpent is equated with a dragon, a devil or satan, which many people take to be a specific figure with the name Satan or Lucifer:

The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

In the Book Wisdom is told that God created man unto His own likeness without corruption. Nevertheless through envies of the devil, the inner-thought of man going against the given purity of the Master Creator, came death into the world. Everybody in the creation of the Most High has elements of Him in him or her and by this gift of God has the possibility to feel the essence of the Creator in themselves. It are the wicked thoughts which separate from God and do come into the mind of those who think themselves wise or want to test God. Eve clearly wanted to test the Elohim. Therefore the Power of Jehovah had to come to her to condemn her. It was His Spirit Which filled the world but has all the right to give and take and man doubted His rights.

Wis 1:1-7 WEBA  Love righteousness, all you who are judges of the earth. Think of the Lord with a good mind. Seek him in singleness of heart,  (2)  because he is found by those who don’t tempt him, and is manifested to those who trust him.  (3)  For crooked thoughts separate from God. His Power convicts when it is tested, and exposes the foolish.  (4)  Because wisdom will not enter into a soul that devises evil, nor dwell in a body that is enslaved by sin.  (5)  For a holy spirit of discipline will flee deceit, and will depart from thoughts that are without understanding, and will be ashamed when unrighteousness has come in.  (6)  For wisdom is a spirit who loves man, and she will not hold a blasphemer guiltless for his lips; because God bears witness of his reins, and is a true overseer of his heart, and a hearer of his tongue:  (7)  Because the spirit of the Lord has filled the world, and that which holds all things together knows what is said.

Wis 2:21-24 WEBA  Thus they reasoned, and they were led astray; for their wickedness blinded them,  (22)  and they didn’t know the mysteries of God, neither did they hope for wages of holiness, nor did they discern that there is a prize for blameless souls.  (23)  Because God created man for incorruption, and made him an image of his own everlastingness;  (24)  but death entered into the world by the envy of the devil, and those who belong to him experience it.

For to the light of day succeeds night, but against wisdom evil does not prevail (Wisdom 7:30) Adam and Eve having had evil thoughts of God by giving heed to their wish to know as much as God knows. They were not  not ashamed concerning their soul and now it was to late to hide for God. Sirach 7:1 tells us not to do evil so will no evil overtake you. Now the relationship between God and man got disturbed and they knew very well that they had done wrong.

That satan and lucifer are not wicked beings, can also been seen in other places in Scriptures where the evangelist John equates Jesus Christ with Lucifer, the Latin word for “light-bearer” which stems from the “Latin Vulgate” Bible, produced by Jerome, commissioned by Pope Damascus in 382 A.D. In Revelation 22:16, “Jesus” proclaims that:

“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”

In the verses about the penalty coming over the man and female, the 1° Adam and Eve, the Creator offers a solution and talks about the evil being crushed by the foot of the send one, the darkness eliminated by the light. The ‘Light” spoken off in the Bible refers then to the promised one, who got born in Bethlehem out of the tribe of God’s servant King David.

Of course, the Latin “Lucifer” (“Lux Ferre”) was associated with the planet Venus, which is called “Phosphoros”, the “morning star” or “dawn-bringer”, who was both a minor god in Greece and Rome, who according to the Greek Historian Diodorus Siculus, was a:

…son of Atlas, who was fond of astronomy, and once, after having ascended Mount Atlas to observe the stars, he disappeared. He was worshipped with divine honours, and regarded as the fairest star in the heavens. (Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology.) {Forbidden Fruit in the Midst of the Garden (Part 1)}

We have goodness in us but there is also badness which “lies in wait to turn things that are good into evil” (Sirach 11:31). When Jehovah’s Word came into the world everything got created and out of chaos came order, but that does not mean that disorder would have gone for ever. In the Plan of God everything should stay in good order, but man got the right to order things themselves as well. Jehovah God is a God of order. Normally man had to be the seal of full measure, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.  Man was placed in the beautiful Garden of Eden, the Garden of God.

To dwell in the awesome presence of a perfect and holy God, many would agree that those being there in the Garden of God had to be perfect. What went wrong is seen in the reaction of the woman ignoring God’s commandment. there was light that made an end to darkness, which was set up on the holy mountain of God.  This light is also called “Lucifer” in Scripture who also fitted the name, ‘Son of the Morning’ being perfect in its ways from the day that it was created, until unrighteousness was found in it.  (Ezekiel 28:2-19)

A "Son of Light" bad and good. Lucifer the evil one.
A “Son of Light” bad and good. Lucifer the evil one.

Man got its insides filled with badness, a violence against the Will of God, and this the Bible calls sin. We come to hear in the Scriptures that splendour and beauty did not last forever. It is told that Lucifer while ministering, began to consider his own position of prominence and became prideful, believing that he deserved more than what he already had. He wanted to become like the Most High. This is the main problem of what went wrong in the Garden of Eden. This is also still the problem of today. There were those who wanted to be like God in a bad sense of having the same power as God, wanting to be God. This became the reason to cast them out as ‘wrongoers’, ‘wrongdoers’ or sinners as profane ‘out of God’s mountain’.

Lucifer was also known by the Greeks as the Titan Prometheus, the son of Iapetus. (As a side-note compare this description of Phosphoros with Isaiah 14: 13-14: “For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most high”). {Forbidden Fruit in the Midst of the Garden (Part 1)}

Man was stripped of his beauty, his position, and his rights to heaven. The lucifer got his light dimmed. Lucifer’s name, ‘son of the morning,’ was given to a far more deserving individual, the Son of God. He is the seed of the New Generation, the beginning of the New World. Jesus Christ is called the ‘Bright and Morning Star’ (Revelation 22:16).

Today, the one promised in the Garden of Eden, who was in the dark for a long time, has become the light of the world again and is now back close to God, seated at the right hand of the Most High Divine Creator. The 2° Adam is now dwelling in the presence of the Almighty. Christ’s words hold true, even ‘in the account of Satan’:

Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted” (Matthew 23:12).

In what has happened in the Garden of Eden we have an example which we should seriously take at heart. We shall have to look deep in our heart and question ourselves which position we do want to take in. We should see and understand what the 1° Adam and Eve did wrong and how we can avoid falling in the same trap as they did. We should come to understand that recalcitrance and aversion to God will make us weaker and defenceless. The rebellious attitude will bring us only in the dark, like it did with Adam and Eve being brought in a grim world.

We should know that still today the adversary of God is willing to control the world, therefore it is also said that ‘Satan’s attempt’ to control this world system is nothing to take lightly.

  • Vos on Creation (greenbaggins.wordpress.com)
If the creation history is an allegory, then the narrative concerning the fall and everything further that follows can also be allegory. The writer of the Pentateuch presents his work entirely as history (Reformed Dogmatics, volume 1, p. 161).

  • Did Plato influence the Book of Genesis? (lionoftheblogosphere.wordpress.com)
the belief among Orthodox Jews is that the book of Genesis is very old, but as the web page points out, there are no outside historically dated references to the book of Genesis until the second century B.C., which is two hundred years after the founding of Plato’s Academy.
  • We Will Always Be Tempted (birdchirp.wordpress.com)
The devil is as dangerous to us as he was to Adam and Eve. Peter refers to him as “a roaring lion…seeking whom he may devour” (1 Pet.5:8). According to Jesus, he is the prince of this world (John 12:31). We must remember, however, that the devil rules as a usurper.
  • Servants of God (christopherjmoorewriter.wordpress.com)
if we choose to put ourselves above God, then ultimately we will join Satan in the eternal fires of hell. It’s our choice. Jesus, in allowing himself to be crucified for our sins provides another way.All we have to do is repent of our pride, put Christ as the centre of our lives and be his servant – feed the hungry, visit the prisoners, comfort the sick and dying. These charitable acts provide us with the opportunities to be servants of God. And we don’t have to travel to distant lands to perform them, just look around you, the area where you live. There are plenty of God’s children who need and deserve your help.
  • Where Are You? (psychologytoday.com)
God doesn’t rage or leave. God simply responds by asking the first question of the Torah: “Ayeka?”Translated literally, Ayeka means, “Where are you?” and upon first pass, that question seems silly for a Higher Power to be asking. First, why does it matter where they are hanging out? Second, shouldn’t God “know” anyway?
  • By Faith? (hiwaychristian.wordpress.com)
Take note as to how all the creatures involved in creating what is creation, did not hear the reason until some distance into the building.  And even while salvation among men is in full swing, the angels still long to look into these things.  Unless the translation is wrong, I noticed that Peter did not use the past tense of the word “long”.Remaining obedient though  we have no clue, is not only essential now, it is a pattern of behavior for all God’s creatures for eternity.  And this ought to renew our devotion to serve without full understanding.  Frankly folks, that will be our state of affairs forever.
  • Psalm 80 (embodiedtorah.wordpress.com)
The theology of this verse reminds me of the comment on the first verse of Genesis by the medieval French commentator Rashi, in which he explains that the purpose of beginning Torah with creation, rather than with the first mitzvah given to Israel in Exodus 12, is to remind us that the world belongs to God. In this Psalm, God is a gardener and the world is God’s garden.
  • The Fear of Man is a Trap (codybateman.org)
Nearly everyone has heard of Abraham and his faith in God. What most do not realize is that he struggled with Fear. You see, Abraham had a drop-dead gorgeous wife and he knew it too. Because of her beauty, he feared that the wicked ruler of the land they were passing through, might kill him in order possess his wife.

Today, the whole world remains blessed by the faithfulness of God toward Abraham. How so? Because our Savior, Jesus Christ, eventually came from that same line of Abraham and his beautiful wife!
